Eastward in Eden framed by a Palladian style entablature
By Al R. Young
Al designed the presentation and created the gilded sunburst, the fresco-style ornamentation flanking the entablature, and the text under the paintings. The hand-painted diptych was executed on 4 ft. x 8 ft. sheets of plywood. Ashton prepared the gilded text installed on the base of the entablature.
Contractors installed and painted the entablature, during the construction phase of remodeling, according to Al's specifications. The Studios provided on-site supervision.
The fig motif was executed in clear vinyl, which was then hand tinted at the studio.
Al affixes the ornamentation to the wall before applying a thin layer of joint compound and wall paint.
The diptych was painted in the studio at Ben Haven.
Al installs the embellished capitals of the text accompanying the diptych.
As planned, the diptych was the last feature of the remodeling of the house, completed and installed after re-occupancy.
