Al designed the three botanically-themed ornaments as well as the valance that augment the plate rail in the garden room. He and Ashton built them in the workshops at Ben Haven.
The Studios' work on the plate rail originated with the simple commission to design something that would prevent it from being an austere shelf around the base of the room's vaulted ceiling.
This facsimile of Al's original design sketch captures not only the concept for the form of a solution, but the energy that drives any creative endeavor.
Creating this prototype was the first major milestone.

Pieces have not only to be created, but shepherded through stages of preparation.
With the proliferation of pieces and overlapping projects, effective space utilization becomes critical.
