Recreating Sarah Orne Jewett's Deephaven

By

We've been working on the recipes for our next Journal issue, featuring Sarah Orne Jewett's enchanting novel, Deephaven. "Deephaven Clam Chowder" was the last recipe to create and test--in fact, we finished it today. The "Kitchen" article is entitled "An Unreasonably Good Supper" and features ingredients that can be foraged and scavenged from the coastline and forest. (Or simply picked up at the supermarket.) The pencil drawing, right, is by Al R. Young.
