War Crimes - Exhibit J (BenHaven archives reference no.: 4.13.0049) This document is from the papers of John W. Britton. It derives from a 7-page document, designated Exhibit J, containing a roster for Camp No. 2 (Nisshin) Kawasaki, Japan Aug. 25, 1945. The roster includes 139 names consisting of 59 Americans, 6 members of the British merchant marine, 6 members of the Australian merchant marine, 5 members of the Norwegian merchant marine, 4 British navy personnel, 2 members of the RAF, 13 members of the British army, and 44 men in the Italian navy.

Provenance

John W. Britton mailed the photocopies to Alfred R. Young in either the late 1970s or early 1980s. Letters from John accompanying transmittal of these documents became separated from accompanying documents. One letter is dated November 16, 1978, the other is dated July 2, 1981. Comparison of the two letters and the condition of the copies suggests that this document accompanied the 1978 letter. The photocopies and correspondence are housed in The BenHaven Archives.

This document is Artifact 4.13.0049 in the BenHaven Archives.
